Psalm 63:1

David wrote this psalm while in the wilderness. The wilderness was a barren, desolate place where he was deprived of the comforts of home and exposed to bad weather and hostile enemies.

These things were in and of themselves enough to make the wilderness a very troubling and trying experience. David found it to be even more so for another reason. While in the wilderness he was away from the sanctuary of the Lord.

The question is not whether we, as God’s people, will have to go through wilderness experiences, but rather how to face them. It is at this point that David’s psalm offers tremendous help.

Text: 1 Samuel 30:1-10

A tough day At Ziglag!  What David did not do –

He did not let people influence him.

He did not let the situation master him.

He inquired of the Lord!

He gathered the wisdom of the Lord.

He took steps to better this grave day.

Luke 19:41

What has become of the weeping, the cry of the heart for the lost? Has the Church drawn a cold heart and a blind eye or maybe a blurred eye, to what is going on in this world?

Our nation, quit praying, and now seems to be walking from church to find something more pure and relative. Really, what has become of the sounds of repentance and the cry for lost souls in our nation?

Job utters some of the most beautiful words found in scripture in this text!

Job makes these statements of hope! A hope that is surrounded by gloom and doom!

Diamonds are displayed best on black velvet!

John 5:1-9

The Sheep Gate was a small entrance to the city in the northeast segment of the wall near the temple.  The “Sheep Gate” represents salvation. This pool with its eight colonnades or porches would house so many looking to be healed! We could look at this as looking to be saved from illnesses, diseases such as, crippling, blindness, and paralyzed including being lame.

“The lost sinner does not need help; he needs healing.”

Text: 2 Kings 4:8-37

God’s restoration of the woman’s dead son reminds us that no believer’s loss is permanent.

The Statement: “All is well” declares to us as readers, and believers of the Word of God that even though there may be times of great despair and confusion God will always revive what was lost in the midst of time.

Text: Psalm 121:1-2

People are always looking – Looking for employment; looking at the newspaper; looking for love; looking for something to eat; looking for a friend; looking for a church; looking for a deal; looking for comfort… You get the picture!

The psalmist is looking for help! He is looking to the hills and asks the question “Where does my help come from?”

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17

This scripture expresses deeply in our hearts the realization of  “Change". The Word change can also be defined as "transformation", which one can and should conclude that there is a total difference in a person once they are transformed.

Text: Psalm 22:1-2; Matthew 27:46

The Grace of God is abundant for our lives. Reading and listening to these powerful words in Scripture brings thoughts of abandonment, desertion, and rejection. These words amply describe loneliness, which in turn brings emotion pain and confusion.

Often time loneliness can be situational and not permanent! Also, conditional with duty coupled with a sense of abandonment.

In either case or other circumstances that can cause loneliness, an abrupt shudder races through your soul!  Questions begin to be asked in your bruised heart and the mind becomes sharp and thoughtful.
